In October 2023, the Housing Ombudsman Service reviewed its Complaint Handling Code following the Social Housing Regulation Act. This led to a revised Code that outlines the standards for handling complaints, which MJHA and other housing providers must follow.
Starting from 1st April 2024, this Code became a statutory requirement, obliging the Ombudsman to ensure housing associations adhere to it, regardless of whether a complaint is made by residents.
The Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023 mandates that registered providers like MJHA must demonstrate compliance with the Housing Ombudsman’s Complaint Handling Code. We are required to submit evidence of our compliance to the Housing Ombudsman annually, or whenever significant changes occur within the organization.
